Korean singer and dancer BoA will mark a music-world first by releasing a 3-D video of the title track of her Hurricane Venus album set for August 5 release. Venus is her sixth album.
BoA is the stage name of Boa Kwon, 23, who was discovered in 1998 when she accompanied her brother to a talent competition sponsored by SM Entertainment. After attaining popularity in Korea and Japan, BoA debuted in the U.S. in October of 2008 with the single “Eat You Up”. She released her first English-language album in March of 2009. She speaks English as well as Japanese and Korean. She has also recorded songs in Mandarin. She is the only non-Japanese Asian artist with two million-selling albums in Japan and is one of only two artists to have six consecutive number-one studio albums on Japan’s Oricon charts.
Her new 3-D video was produced by Pace HD which had participated in the production of the James Cameron blockbuster Avatar, according to a press release from BoA’s management company SM Entertainment. This is the first music video produced in Korea by Pace HD. The crew will also shoot a 3-D video of a concert featuring various SM Entertainment artists to be entitled “SM Town Live ’10 World Tour in L.A.” on September 4.
