By wchung | 11 May, 2025
The South Korean government is considering building undersea tunnel links with China and Japan, reported China Daily, citing a spokesman at South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
“At this stage, we are studying the economic and technical feasibility [of building undersea tunnels],” the spokesman told Reuters by telephone. The results of the study are expected later this year.
The plans under consideration include a tunnel connecting western Korea with Weihai in China’s Shandong Province at an estimated cost of about $106 billion.
