Su Jung Health Sauna on a heavily Korean stretch of Buford Highway in Norcross, Georgia was the scene of a murder-suicide of five on February 21, 2012.
A gunman shot two men and two women before turning the gun on himself at a popular Korean sauna along a stretch of Buford Highway lined with Korean establishments in the Atlanta suburb of Norcross.
At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday a security camera recorded an unidentified man walking into Su Jung Health Sauna, about 15 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta in Gwinnett County, according to Norcross police. The gunman began arguing with someone at the spa before he began shooting. About 20 people were inside the spa at the time.
“It appears he walked in, had some conversation with one of the victims and the shooting started,” Norcross Police Chief Warren Summers told WAGA-TV.
Police entered the sauna to find the bodies of three men and two women, along with a gun. The shooter was identified as one of the dead persons. Four people were dead on the scene and a fifth died of gunshot wounds at a hospital.
Based on interviews with witnesses Norcross police captain Brian Harr told AP that the shootings appeared to be “domestic-related”.
Norcross is home to a sizable population of Korean Americans as well as a growing number of Vietnamese, Chinese and other Asian Americans
