Korean actress Ji-hyun Jun, best known as the My Sassy Girl heroine, changed her name to Gianna Jun for her first international production Blood: The Last Vampire. The Universal project was originally slated for a March 2009 release in 2,000 screens in the U.S.and Canada, but has been delayed until June.
Blood is a live-action reincarnation of a Japanese horror-genre anime about an immortal human-vampire hybrid who cannibalizes vampires. Jun’s character partners with the U.S. government to battle the queen of vampires on a U.S. army base. The director is Frenchman Chris Nahon. The swirling swordfight scenes is choreographed by action master Corey Yuen.
Juns says her biggest challenge on the film was learning English. Most of the filming took place in China and Argentina.
