Foreign-Branded Phone Sales in China up 1.8% on Year in April

Apple's iPhones were among the 3.59 million foreign phones sold in an otherwise down market according to data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Shipments of foreign-branded mobile phones in China for April, including Apple's iPhones, were up 1.8% from the same month last year, Reuters calculations based on data released by a government-affiliated research firm on Tuesday showed.
The data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology showed shipments of foreign-branded phones within China were at 3.59 million units in April.
Overall phone shipments in China last month were up 2.8% year-on-year to 25.73 million units, according to the data.
