I'm not much into Monterey Park/Alhambra/San Gabriel. That used to be the spot, not many are moving to Rowland Heights/Hacienda Heights/Walnut/Diamond Bar. The homes are nicer-so I think those who can afford it, tend to move out there.

Monterey Park/Alhambra/San Gabriel has some great Chinese restaurants, but not the most attractive place to live.

I agree that Arcadia is NOT a good place for asians. The houses are way over priced and unattractive. The large homes are wedged in between old decaying ones, making neighborhoods very inconsistent. The schools are over crowded. Also, the population is still predominately white and tension between them & asians is high.
If you want beautiful newer neighboorhoods with excellent schools, I suggest Glendora, Walnut, Diamond Bar, or Hacienda Heights

i think that the good thing about being asian is the fact that people automatically assume you are smart!

Monterey Park/Alhambra/San Gabriel are the best. Yes, there are a lot of recent immigrants, Yes thre are a lot of Gangs. But if you don't cause trouble, then most probably, no one is gonna bother you. I think it's a helluva lot better than Rowland Heights/WCovina Area. Too many Asian Gangs. Rich kids who have nothing better to do than to act tough on there off time from studying the SATS and planning to get into Stanford. You can't beat the prices and the food of SGV. Plus, it's only fifteen away from Ktown.

I'm student at Azusa Pacific. I have lived in Glendora with my family since 1985 and I agree with all those who say it is a must see for all asians. It's not too far away from Pasadena, 15 minutes, and it is a predominantly affluent city in the process of revitalizing it's main business and retail corridors. I have seen the asian population more than double from 4,000 in 1990 to 11,300 in the 2000 census. Sure it may still be white majority, but the city isn't charter run like Arcadia and West Covina. The schools speak for themselves, consistently being ranked in the top ten in SGV. The city is worth checking out and is pretty affordable, depending how big a house you want.

Arcadia? A good place for asians? Maybe for chinese, the majority of them are. However, just because Arcadia, San Marino has a majority of asians doesn't make it a great place to live. Is it really worth it trying to move to Arcadia only to pay 400k for a piece of junk house?
Check out other cities like the Diamond Bar area and the cities surrounding it, excluding w. covina, covina, pomona, and azusa. They are smaller yet still fairly affluent cities that have a great quality of life. Yeah, it may not be the coolest place for adults but at least it's safe..

In response to Hey BeeBee, I take it that you live in arcadia, i recently did before i moved to glendora and it isn't all it is cracked up to be. The white people there are prejudice against the growth of asians, and the schools are overcrowded and the drug and gang rate is high. However, you saying that Glendora is lower middle class white people is completely not true. The average price of a home in the 91741 area code is $427,000 and in 91740 is $289,000. Compared to San Dimas' $212,000 average. And although majority white, the asian percentage is 15%. Some of them living in the most prestigious custom homes set upon the hils that you can only find crowded amongst older homes in arcadia on 8,000sqft. lots. In addition, Glendora's school district is comparable to arcadia's and will probably soon surpass. So before you go and try to put another city down, go and do something to help your own community.
