WHAT YOU SAY
[This page is closed to new input. --Ed.]
Hi Goldsea () I'm here in Louisiana and there are lots of black and asian couples here. Some of them even marry including myself my husband is Asian. And there as been several marriages here with Blacks and Asians marrying, and raising a family together. But from my personal experience it seems that society seems to put alot pressure on the blk/ women that may marry or even date Asian man. ~:| Oh now if she marries a white guy it goes more unnoticed because it is nothing new and has been seen many times now Blacks/whites, but Asian/Black coupling? Maybe it is my imagination, but isnât she expected to act the role of an Asian girl as if she has always known it? Isn't she expected to look a certain way all the time? `_«
My mother in law once told me because I was with her son ăYou must always look pretty prettyä (X_X)... I'm like whatever!.. I am pretty that's why Iâm with your son lady·
But still her point was made and it seems like even the world saw it this way. Because even now today i still hear, "Girl how did you get an Asian guy?" "Where did you meet him at?"(Like asian men come from Mars or Pluto.)(<>..<>)
In the past when we would go to Parties a family get together I use to feel like i must be just as pretty as some Asian girls there. (Not knowing what they would look like really) Most of this mind poisoning comes from my mother in-law since day one. And when I finally got there...(don't mean to sound snobbish) but hell I was one of the prettiest girls there.=Ț It would then upset me to think that she thought just because I'm not Asian I have to work harder a being pretty.~:|
Any ways to make a long story short I began to wonder why do I have to prove why my husband chose me over an Asian girl. Why do people stare?... like who are they?.... where are they from? Alot of people here assume we are in military as if that would give them some explanation, but when we say "No we are both grew up here" they look at us like we're odd. I know there are alot of black wives with asian husbands and I'm just wondering if you once felt that way.
(='.'=)Oh yeah and this is to a lady that once sent me an e-mail to my earlier post (black Thai bride), I really meant to respond to you. But after reading you letter it went into my old mail section and was delete before i could my screen name is XticklemesweetX _ IM me sometime I would love to chat.

I found these results interesting. Previously, I read that Asian Men and Black Women are least likely to date outside of their race. I figured it was due to a lack of attraction. Obviously I was wrong. It seems that fear of rejection is what keeps Asian Men and Black Women from dating each other. I guess it's time for both sides to open up and make the first step towards overcoming this irrational fear.

I think a number of black women including both light or dark skinned types are sexy and attractive. I also think a lot of them find me attractive. You girls have the best "hands" ... for massage I mean. You gals flirt a lot at work. I think that it is one way that you show interest. I show interest by just talking and giving you attention. After some soul searching, I think I will go for the sexy, curvy types with a more petite body and a kind heart with decency of course.

This is my observation, but my personal experience goes against this grain. I seem to notice more Japanese men with black women who come from Africa than with black women from America. As a matter of fact, there was a documentary a few months back on Japanese man/ Black (African) woman marriages. The fact is that the number of African people here is higher than the number of African American people, especially in my city. Some Japanese men have felt more comfortable with black women because they felt they had more in common and they were able to understand each other better. I am not saying this to put black women over white or asian women, I am just saying that this was the reaction of the Japanese men who dated or married black women.

Well, I don't like generalizing, especially since I think my experience is a little out of the ordinary. I have had very little problems as a black woman in Japan as far as prejudice is concerned, but that could be because I don't really think about it that much. There are lots of older men and women who will just strike up conversations with me--probably because they know I can speak Japanese. As far as guys are concerned, I get more than my share. I've had men shouting 'Naomi [Campbell]! Naomi!' at me or just asking me to join them for a cup of coffee or a beer. Simply put, I haven't met all 125 million people who live here, but I'd probably met some folks who like me and some who don't. Most everyone I've met has treated me well.
