On ROLE MODELS & PHILOSOPHY
I admire parts of different people and don't like to pattern myself after anyone else. People point to Connie Chung, and I certainly respect her, but it's important to establish your own niche. Instead of following someone, take a part of that person and incorporate it into your own. I want to be Sharon Tay. I have very high standards for myself and I am my worst critic. As long as I know I put in my best, I'm happy.
On AFTER HOURS FUN
On my days off I'm an active, outdoors person. I go to the gym a lot and I love body sculpting. I'm just getting into scuba diving and roller blading.
Mondays and Tuesdays are my days off but it's hard to make time for anything because of my tight schedule. I'm with Mousse in the mornings, and I do my errands. Because of ratings, it's difficult for me to get away. We don't have a big staff and they rely on us to put in the time and commitment.

I'm very low key. I don't go to clubs and I rarely go to bars. I meet a lot of goons when I go out and I just don't like meeting goons. Because I work at night it limits my ability to go out. I enjoy dinner with close friends, perhaps going to a movie or sitting around talking. I haven't seen a play in years.
On FANS
I get about ten fan letters a week, and 99% of them are very positive, although I occasionally get wacko ones. When I get gifts I send them back. I don't accept gifts from fans. A guy sent me a Monte Blanc pen and something for my dog once. I had mentioned having a dog on the air. I sent it right back. I get some really funny and creative ones too. Guys send their pictures, letters asking for dates and dinners. I get propositioned all the time to go out for lunch.
